Capsule Blowing Agents

- Capsule blowing agents (liquid hydrocarbon) are encapsulated in microspheres with thermoplastic shell structures of 10 ~ 60 ㎛ size. They are thermally expandable physical blowing agents. Under the heat treatment, the thermoplastic shell softens, the liquid hydrocarbon in the shell evaporates, and the internal pressure increases, causing the entire microcapsule to expand and exhibit the function of the blowing agent. Compared to chemical blowing agents that decompose when heated and generate gas, the surface of the foam is much smoother, and it is a high-functional special blowing agent that is easy to process even for the surface of a thin foam wallpaper.
They are used for PVC sandals, artificial leather and screen wallpaper, midsoles and outsoles of sports shoes, screen printing, and printing ink.

Characteristics of Capsule Blowing Agents

- Although microcapsules of very small sizes can withstand high pressure (300 kgf/cm2), are not easily broken. Their hollow, macroporous core and mesoporous shell structures have the characteristics of enhancing the effect of high elasticity, heat retention, sound insulation, specific gravity reduction, and shock absorption.
