Eco-friendly snow remover
● What is a snow remover?
- Snow removers are used to lower the freezing point of snow and make them melt without freezing, which are mainly made of calcium chloride (CaCl) and sodium chloride (salt, NaCl). The snow is in a supercooled state, which is a mixture of ice and water, water requires energy to make it ice and the snow remover prevents the water from freezing. Physical removal is the best method of snow removal, but we are now preparing for an alternative, due to respiratory damage, vehicle corrosion, road and facility damage, river pollution, side effect such as roadside tree dry death owing to irrelevant application of calcium chloride used if it is practically impossible.
● Eco-friendly snow remover certified by the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute under the Ministry of Environment
- The Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute under the Ministry of Environment enacted the environmental label certification performance standard (EL610) for snow removal products, and PPS has been purchasing and supplying the only eco-friendly snow removers which received the environmental label certification specified as the "green procurement minimum green standard product" from 2013.
