Magnesium Oxide in Chloroprene performs as a scorch protecting agent vulcanizing agent and acid acceptor, One of the most important properties of Magnesium Oxide in Chloroprene is Surface Activity as measured by Iodine absorption. Surface activity means a capacity to accept the acid which is released by rubber during storage and processing. And it correlates directly with performance in Chloroprene. For example, processing safety, modulus and tensile strength tend to increase with higher activity numbers while the cure rate decreases. And this tendency is more noticeable in the Sulfa Modified Type of Chloroprene than in the Sulfa Non-Modified Type.We have three standard grades of Magnesium Oxide for Chloroprene compounding. Each differs in activity range, calcining with precision activity controlby means of rotary kilns. Thus the compounder select the most suitable grade of Magnesium Oxide for his precess.
● The three grades are as follows
Kyowamag 150 | Kyowamag 100 | Kyowamag 30 |
---|
Highly active and medium light in bulk. | Intermediately active between Kyowamag 150 and 30 and higher than Kyowamag 150 in bulk. | Less active and medium light in bulk. |
