Respiration meter

Definition of Respiration Meter
The respiration meter is an equipment to measure the amount of oxygen which was consumed by the aerobic bacteria during respiration.

Measurement principle
· The aerobic microorganisms consume the oxygen when they obtain energy for cell growth through organic degradation. At this time the consumption of dissolved oxygen is proportional quantitatively to the concentration of organic. Therefore the variation of dissolved oxygen can be a useful information for evaluation of biodegradability of substrate and characteristics of influent.

Equipment
· The respiration meter is composed of computer, monitor, sampling bottle, mixer, aerator, pump, respiration chamber, DO meter, and solenoid valve.
