WWTP Diagnosis and Control
Web based Diagnosis & Control System
· We developed an We based package integrating modeling, diagnosis & control technologies. This system is able to operate a wastewater treatment plant as stable, economic, and optimized conditions for a long period of time. A demonstration was practised at a A2O pilot plant with 18 m3/d treatment capacity.

· A statistical and mathematical model was developed and optimized for the subject plant. A control schedule for one hour intervals were made based on predetermined influent and effluent conditions. This schedule was applied for optimum operation following day and the effluent NH4-N concentration was obtained below 5 mg/L.
· The process was controled based on effluent NH4-N cascade control and empirical NOX-N control. This practicse achieved 25% reduction of electricity cost and 50% reduction of external carbon cost.
· A diagnosis system for process status was developed based on the PCA(Principle Component Analysis), the cluster analysis, and the discrimination analysis techniques.
· A diagnosis system was developed to analyze the troubles of expensive equipments. Another diagnosis system was developed to analyze settling conditions of sludge in a settling tank using image analysis.

Operation supporting technology by IoT
· Prediction models were made for water temperature in the process and influent water quality.
· A censor system was developed to predict nutrient concentrations in the influent by integrating pH, DO, ORP, Temp., and predicted water quality in the influent.
· An Early Warning System, EWS, was developed to detect the variation of impact factors on nitrification based on the fuzzy rules.
· A prediction system for process performance was developed based on process operation guideline and Hybrid modelling results according to the EWS.
· A decision supporting system was developed based on fuzzy algorithms.
· This R&D was selected as a project for "Commercialization of Green Environment Technology" by the Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute.
